FlightView and AITA

After using FlightTracker for so many years, I too despair with its passage (along with FlightBoard). Last week I tested FlightView (FV) side by side with AppInTheAir and FlightTracker in real time. As it happened, one of my flight was delayed into the next day, so it became a tougher test for all of them. I also judged the information they provide when looking at the iPhone widget they each provide. I don't know if there is an equivalent function in the Android world.

To start, I agree that AITA is not worth the $30 annual fee, let alone the $50 lifetime. So much noise! Neither it nor FV acknowledged that there was an active flight on the morning of the next day while trusty FlightTracker did display it.

During the normal day, the AITA widget just provides info about the next step you need to take (e.g., Check in) as opposed to showing you your upcoming itinerary. While FV showed the two legs of my trip, it didn't calculate the layover time between the flights--something FlightTracker does all the time. With AITA, you have to go into the app itself to see that information.

I'm going to check out FlightStats based on a post below but at the moment, FV seems like the best of all evils. I don't hold high hopes for the Expedia release, whenever that might happen!

UPDATE: I looked at FlightStats and rule it out based on the ad clutter and the lack of basic tools like connecting flight information. The search goes on!

As many have already said, this app has A LOT of features that just clutter the screen, without being useful.
The alerts system is very cumbersome (at least to me).
One cannot segregate flights into different trips: the app only lists all flights chronologically.
A VERY annoying thing is that the app has a popup message that pushes you to review the app in the app store. This message pops us regularly (every few minutes or so) and it cannot be fully dismissed unless you actually review the app!
This app was probably the LEAST useful thing I have ever bought for $50.
I cannot believe there really is no app (even a paid one!) out there that comes close to FlightTrack!
I wish a bunch of smart kids looked into building such an app (but only after seeking input/advice from potential users, who can say what SHOULD and what SHOULD NOT be in included in an app like this). I guess this would even be a good candidate for crowdfunding? I would gladly contribute and I am sure others would too.
