I guess some may have reservations transiting IST in current env specially for parents. - if so then best options would be to redeem TK J (via SQ or Lifemiles).

I would personally use lifemiles and have done so few months back at good value.
TK redemption using Lifemiles is a great deal -78,000 lifemiles OW in J, 99,000 lifemiles OW in F, only $25 ticketing fee, and low taxes and YQ. If you got your lifemiles at 1.5 UScents or better, this is a very attractive option to consider. TK is good airline, with lie flat premium cabin seats, free wifi and on board chef on most long haul flights
