Hoping I can get some advice on how to optimize my club points across membership years.

Current situation...

Current status : Gold
Membership year ends : March 2017
Current club point total : 595

Planned travel...

HKG - MNL - Discount economy (k) - 11-17 Feb
HKG - LHR - Business class (i) - 19 - 23 Feb

I would like to reset my member year after the trip to the Philippines once I have achieved 600 points. I'd then like the London trip to contribute towards my next membership year period.

I am not interested in the 800 points mid tier benefits should I even be able to achieve that by the end of March.

Is it as simple as calling the Marco Polo club on the 18th and asking for a reset or do I need to take extra precautions to ensure the London trip isn't credited?
