I guess some may have reservations transiting IST in current env specially for parents. - if so then best options would be to redeem TK J (via SQ or Lifemiles).

I would personally use lifemiles and have done so few months back at good value.
Yeah S$1.3k is a good price (all NH operated flights too). It's available from NH direct website too, did you look there? I notice TK J requires 195k KF Miles though compared to 175K AM Miles. QR is using B77W 2-2-2 seats for IAD-DOH and A359 1-2-1 for DOH-SIN. Not sure about QR or TK's inflight service though.
