I've booked LAX-JFK-MAN (Manchester UK) for August. I have a 50 min connection in JFK, arriving at 630pm with the next flight at 720pm. It's on one ticket on AA.
Do the experts think this is a safe connection? To be honest a misconnect would suit me if I could be put on a later flight to London instead, so I'm not too stressed about it.

Like a lot of connections, 50 mins is plenty if you're on time, but doesn't leave a lot of room for any hiccups. Your bags should make it.
In these types of scenarios it always pays to be extra vigilant at your departure airport. If it looks like your LAX-JFK is going to be delayed, then start working with the AAgents at LAX to get rebooked on LAX-LHR-MAN, for example.
