Like a lot of connections, 50 mins is plenty if you're on time, but doesn't leave a lot of room for any hiccups. Your bags should make it.

In these types of scenarios it always pays to be extra vigilant at your departure airport. If it looks like your LAX-JFK is going to be delayed, then start working with the AAgents at LAX to get rebooked on LAX-LHR-MAN, for example.
