You didn't say where you are travelling from.

If you have a US visa which has just expired and you are travelling from the USA back to India, because you have just used the visa and you are now returning, then you don't need a visa to transit Paris - provided that if you are transiting CDG airport there are less than 24 hours between your flights, or if you are transiting ORY airport the flights are in the same terminal and on the same calendar day.

If you are not travelling from the USA, then you do need a transit visa.

If the reason you only have an expired US visa is because you overstayed in the US, then I am not entirely sure but I believe you would need a transit visa, which may be denied since you have already demonstrated non-compliance with the terms of your US visa. Although airline agents in the US may not necessarily notice your US visa expired some time ago and allow you to board anyway, and checks in France are unlikely although may still happen and they will just send you to India which is where you want to go anyway.
