Could not agree more. We actually gave up on trying to legally change my wife's name after we got married because of Skymiles AMEX. (Loooong Story)
OP...did they give you a reason why they did not link with your existing account? After about 15 calls, you should be able to at least find out why.
I found it helpful when AMEX would conference DL to a threeway call so that instead of pointing fingers, they can at least come to an understanding on each other's problems.
