Recommending opening up the Platinum. Get the miles bonus and then close out the Gold Card? Ending up in the same spot as I was with the card I would like?

Only issue would be the credit limit. As said the gold card has a pretty significant credit line and assume adding another card wouldn't be nearly as high. If I talked to AMEX and let them know I would like to close the Gold and keep Platinum they would match the limit?
