40,000 is a lot for SYD-CNS (or BNE-CNS?) one way. With AA ffp its 10,000 ff miles in economy/ 20,000 for business one way.
You could have purchased with cash or AA miles or whatever.
But in 1 ticket/PNR you have protection for missed connections (very worth while)
