Many people are increasingly questioning the merits of global alliances. This is exactly where I think they provide tremendous value to flyers.
A few days ago, I saw someone with his SQ PPS Club card arguing why he was denied entry to the NZ SYD lounge flying on a NZ codeshare flight operated by VA, insisting on seeing a supervsior and wouldn't leave. He had no ground to stand on. VA has nothing to do with *A and even though they have a separate agreement with SQ, it only limits them to VA domestic lounges. Everyday these ad-hoc agreements are driving people crazy.
