Amazing, why did aircraft manufacturers that not earlier ? At a cost of cargo capacity of course.

Will the 777-9X not be renamed to 797 at its release ?

And possibly Airbus will release an A380neo with new engines but is still in negotiations with Emirates.

OTOH, four engines is not of this era anymore. Unless the A380neo will be twin-engine, but then it is almost a double deck version of the 350-1000. The 747s are still there, but by 2020 they are all phased out by the major airlines. LH will replace them by the 777-9X.
So the A380 will finally be replaced by the A350-1000 or 777-9X which has the same capacity.
