Yeah, what is going on there?!? A few years back it was possible to get decent AY fares to TPE (and many other HKG connections with CX as operator of last segment). It might be that something has happened with the combinability between AY and CX fares.
I don't know about C. But in Y, it seems that CX cross-strait flights have gotten incredibly expensive. In August, I ended up interlining from AY onto BR; it was actually cheaper than staying in the alliance.
(The VS lounge used by BR at HKG is great by the way; though of course not as good as CX F lounges.)
