There are some services which show the log of the events related to leading up to the flight and you can see those equipment swaps that you normally don't see because almost all are the same type. All it takes is a little delay somewhere to change things around. With Alaska's hub-out-and-back scheduling, swaps at the hub are common if a flight is late returning.
Yeah, I'm keeping an eye out for it. That may be why 3 F seats are still blocked off too, though I don't know what would happen to the 4th (actual booked one). I was able to switch up to the top row anticipating the switch, but now it has reverted back and I lost my exit row seat :|
