In the U.S., tipping a hotel manager is be an insult. It says the guest thinks his/her job is on the same level as those of tipped employees such as housekeeping staff and restaurant servers.

Outside the U.S., the "tip everyone in sight" culture is thankfully even less widespread.

The best thing you can do for a hotel manager is to mention them by name in comment forms.
