Honestly, there are no bad ways to go nowadays. Samsung and Sandisk are both great, and with current prices, I'd recommend going with as large as you are willing to spend. Keep in mind that the price difference between 256 and 512 is often no more than $50, and if you can spare $50, go larger.

I've only ever used Apricorn to clone, and at around $25 with their newest USB 3.0 SATA cable, it is a good deal:
