I respectfully disagree. I don't think Kirby penny pinching was the issue. The issue is spending most of your professional career saving failing / small airlines and getting good at it makes you equipped to do just that, run / save smaller airlines. Unfortunately, the set of challenges at AA is COMPLETELY different. Sure, there are some overlaps, but more differences then similarities. As a result the right management team in regards to power plays / unions sticking it to the old team / creditors wanting the best return ASAP, not long term success.
Basically, I don't think the issues are Parker & Company's fault. I mean technically, yes, but its like take a F-18 pilot of 15 years, having flown nothing else, and with no training him sticking him in the cockpit of a 77w with pax. Will he fly her? Sure......will it be the most comfortable landing / flight for the pax? Perhaps. Would you want him handling an emergency? Probably not. Technically he can do the job, but in reality, the job he was trained all his life to do is VERY different from the one you now ask of him with no training.
