I did a transit without visa in LHE from QR to EY, found myself escorted by a porter to the public area with checkin desks (where taxis drop off passengers) with no stamp/visa in the passport. No problem to pass the passport control back after check in, just explaining the situation with the incoming boarding pass was enough.
