not one of the borderline paranoid who think that contactless on my credit card opens up a security hole a mile wide and in fact am quite annoyed it's not offered pretty much everywhere like in Canada or the UK (I swear there was a thread about tap-to-pay US-based cards somewhere- where'd it go?)
And card number and expiry date? There are only two places you can make transactions with only that data. One is a Hong Kong mobile phone provider that lets you top up a phone number with only that info. The other is Nintendo (downloadable game credit top-up). Everyone else requires at least an address, postal code, and/or name. Oh, and sometimes 3D-Secure too.
My Canadian TD credit card hasn't ever been breached since I opened it two years ago. My Canadian Capital One card hasn't been breached since I opened it last year. In fact, the only time I've had an unauthorized transaction performed against any of my cards was just before Citi started chipping their AA cards, and how long ago was that? I want proper tap to pay on my American cards, is that so much to ask?
