They are almost all(maybe actually all) independently owned and pay a license. Thus you can have someone that doesn't care but wants the name brand or someone that really does care and wants the name brand.

I have been in a Super8 that I would consider extremely nice considering the price paid. I also have been in a Super8 that arguably should have the doors closed.
