Figures quoted in websites like gcmap or webflyer do not always 100% mesh with the airline's calculation. One big factor is that there is not only one available route particularly for longer flights, so it might be that the airline setting the standard flies a longer route (e.g. Korean Air avoiding the Ukraine for geopolitical reasons) I've found Asiana to generally be ever so slightly more generous than what shows up in those searches - though not with as big a margin as you describe.
