I'm hoping that there's an easier way to do this for him, i.e. set the alarm once and it will automatically set additional ones at the 2hr interval. Does this even exist?
On the iPhone you can have several alarms you can have 1 every day 1am the 2nd one 3am etc. once set up you can forget about it ( you can even specify dates etc.)
