Fwiw, I was seated next to a DFW-based Delta pilot on a flight last week (he was commuting to Atlanta for work), and he explained that DFW was formerly a quasi-hub for Delta (Northwest?), and that although passenger traffic is not huge, it is loyal and very high-value.
