was on the phone with multiple AAngels last night trying to book the tickets on BA (W class). Of the three I spoke to, none were able to get me the fares in the right "bucket" that would be eligible for an upgrade. They said the only premium economy fares were for $7000, even though I was looking at premium economy on both AA.com website and BA website, for much less than that. Not sure if it was because they were being lazy or what, because it seems like they would have to do a little more work than usual because it was a codeshare flight.

I politely asked them to check again because I was looking at the fare code and according to the chart that they were eligible for the upgrade. they told me that since it was a code share they wouldn't be in the right bin for upgrade eligibility. I even went on the BA website and the fares there were the expected $1600 for premium economy, but again they told me that they weren't eligible for upgrade.

was I misunderstanding something? AA website showed premium economy (not choice tickets, one step up) as W fare code. thought that meant upgrade?
