It would be useless to you, because if you did get into an accident, the first thing Avis would do would be to contact the company/organization whose AWD code you used to verify that you were an employee and authorized to use it. A better approach (assuming you don't own a car) is to get a non-owner's policy. The premium will be far, far less than the $1K Avis is going to charge you. You can also check out rentalcover.com or use a credit card that offers LDW, but you would still need something like a non-owner's policy if you wanted/needed ALI.
