New menu design. Pre-ordered the Japanese meal. Excellent in-flight service but the meal was probably the worst quality Japanese meal I've had on UA in the past decade. Also, any idea why most of the Japanese serviceware has disappeared over the past year? This meal was previously served on beautiful plates and bowls, of which only a few remnants remain. Pre-arrival chicken katsu was great (much better than the other pre-arrival meal options on UA's westbound transpacs) - and those who pre-ordered the Japanese meal were given preference for the katsu if desired.
Same exact menu SFO-ICN last week. I had the "Amazon Cod." It was not good. Pre-arrival omelet was barely edible.
HKG-SFO for the return was also a bunch of seen-this-so-many-times-before items. I had the halibut with a god-awful coconut sauce. Skipped all other meals.
Really looking forward to new menus.
