Digging up an old thread - does anyone have a preference between the Peninsula, 4S, or the Waldorf? My coworker raves about the Peninsula (and the one in Tokyo is probably the best hotel I've stayed at), but having only really been in the city once (and stayed at a DoubleTree), I was wondering what other people thought. For future reference, Flyer Talk soft rule asks that threads older than two years not be pulled forward (risk of obsolete info).
Anyway, I find the W=A and the FS a bit too far north on the Magnificent Mile. Our CEO and his wife were at the FS recently and they were not impressed.
Pen has excellent location, I think the only downside was the loss of their executive chef but that was a while back.
I would urge you to also look at the Langham, in the River North area. Closer to cultural attractions and housed in the repurposed IBM Building, designed by Ludwig Mies Van Der Rohe.
