Mrs. 1KPath and I visited the FCO Casa Alitalia lounge this week before our AZ flight to LAX...a nice lounge with a very good breakfast and the seats are very comfortable. Unfortunately, it was extremely crowded and very noisy. As our Alitalia host mentioned, "everything is new"...and it shows in both positive and negative ways...On the positive side, the lounge is modern, well stocked and extremely well staffed! The food offerings were quite good and the bar is very well stocked. The negatives relate to to the crowds(there must have been 20 people in line at the manned coffee bar), noise (very loud) and the number of staff in training, inop toilets, and the fragile nature of some of the hard product. The "new" seats are already showing wear and the beautiful Ginori china is already getting chipped. I get the feeling that the Italian philosophy of form over function won out here ( and I say this as an Italian!)
FWIW, there were a number of DL customers in the lounge...I don't know if they had Alitalia status and "Casa" lounge access privileges, but they were definitely flying Delta!
This lounge is definitely an upgrade at FCO, and as it matures, I am sure it will improve in operation!
