This is actually going to be way worse than UA and in some sense DL.

1. No PQD/MQD requirement from all members out of the country.
2. UA allows much more flexible multi-city award reservation than AA in a RT award redemption ticket.
3. In top elite: UA Six GPU+four RPUs versus AA Four eVIPs for highest and basic level.
4. UA with LT PLT/1K/GS levels versus AA with LT GLD/PLT levels.

The only good thing I can see from AA is:

1. Stickers can be used on award flights. Guess they will tie up all the C and A inventory for domestic lights.
2. Partner airlines, in premium cabin, earn MM miles on AA

--------------------------------

It would just make sense to:

1. Get Partner Premium flights, and occasionally on AA with eVIP space to go up J-F.
2. Burning all the stickers on domestic award flights.

AA is really overlooking the fact that:

1. People out of the US, with so many carrier options, will go out of their way to fly AA. I would not fly as much AA if if there is EQD requirement on non-US members, one of whom I can become.

2. EQDs are going to tighten up the ranks. It does look like it will be the trend, but look at what UA has been doing recently to upgrade a large amount of membership pool. A lot of people struggled to even make UA PLT, let alone 1K in the US addresses.

CX/JL/QF/QR/AY Premium cabin is looking better and better every day.

Good point. GPUs from UA can be used in LH and NH. eVIPs can only be redeemed on AA. One really cannot always hope for IRROPs to get premium cabin on partner airlines.

Let's hope AA will reconsider. UA has already implemented the Polaris business class to match up with the AA one. With a much better MM program in UA, a lot of people would switch back to UA.

I would also look at the BA LT Gold options if I truly go for partner premium cabins in the future.
