I did OLCI for my 80+ year old Mom & her 80+ year old friend, both wheelchair assistance types and both non-tech-savvy, early one morning. That afternoon they went to an off-site airport to spend the night as the flight was very early next day. Having done OLCI, I ceased to continue to check the flight (lesson learned about that). When they got to the airport the next morning, they learned the flight had been cancelled the night before (not weather related though no real explanation was proffered). AA had called my mother's house that night and left a message, but of course they weren't there to get it because they were at the airport hotel. I had put MY e-mail address in for notifications & I was never notified. The cancellation came too late for avoiding the hotel stay, but at least they could have stayed comfortably at the hotel instead of sitting at the airport for 10+ hours until the rescheduled flight if AA had only used the e-mail address on file.
