During the bidding process, certain financial details would have been shared, but technically they're still competing companies.
Regardless, MR clearly is trying to mimic many aspects of SPG that hadn't been part of the program originally. Whether they've seen the numbers or not, MR has already started adding SPG elements into MR. The additional points credit for all hotel spend is just another example of MR considering an already established SPG element.
