With longer stays, suite availability is obviously far less likely. If you're not likely to requalify, your complaining seems fairly moot.

Third, if you're staying at a hotel without suites, it's hard to get the upgrade in the first place. People whining about lack of suite upgrades who stay mostly at Element, Aloft, Four Points, which have rare or no suites, or even Sheraton, with few suites, are barking up the wrong tree. Just like people staying over holidays or during a massive city wide convention who make similar complaints.

If you are at a hotel that has availability for standard suites and you as a Plat are not offered the upgrade, then ask to speak to the manager...and call the Platinum support line. If you choose not to do this, then you should also choose not to complain about it afterward.
You missed the snark in my post. I was responding to someone who asserted that SPG guaranteed suite upgrades. I know very well that they don't, and as a LTG, I've always appreciated - but not expected - anything more than what I've paid for.
