Thanks. As a recent data point, I tried it this past weekend and every AA agent I tried calling kept telling me you are absolutely not allowed to change a BA ticket. So I gave up hope. But then low and behold, on aa.com the day before, the option appeared for SDCC and stand by. (Note: I had previously called in and ensured my EXP number was in the reservation, not my BA FF number).
