I have to admit my companion and I just got comfort+ upgrades using the new system that we never would have under the old system. We were efficiently given an upgrade sitting together after the couple of first class upgrades cleared. There were no free seats at t-24 or even t-72. This was on a RJ so there were no middle seat concerns.
