The awards do not state if they are good for one-way or round-trip travel.
Example, if I want to US to EU in Y on a planAhead ticket, would I need 4400 pts or 8800 pts for a round trip.

The only line within the terms is "PlanAhead Awards are valid for one-way or round-trip travel, are subject to special limitations on seat availability and may be subject to travel embargo dates." Since it mentions both, I'm not completely sure.
