I had 9L recently on 101, thought it was fine and not radically better or worse than the 77W. My colleague was in 8L and I could feel him move when he got up but that was it. Didn't stop me from getting a good 3 hour kip.
I can see how a pair of travelers either wanting to socialize or work together might have an issue- but that is also true on the 77W.
