Nope, Miracast (or whatever protocol the screencasting is using) won't work unless they are on the same router. That's what I'm trying to fix.

As for use case, if I can get it to work here, I'll take a ROKU on the road with me for hotels that have super slow internet while I have a decent 4g signal. I had read that it was via wifi direct, but can't seem to make that happen.
