I'm honestly surprised with this new round of changes they haven't replaced fare class with MQD for the segment, using fare class seems fatally flawed to me because you can have passengers in lower fare classes who paid significantly more for a ticket on a given segment. To give you an example, if I look at flying MCI-DTW on May 25 the 6:34 AM flight costs me $318.10 in K class. If I book MCI-DTW-IND, using the same 6:34 AM flight, I can get an H class ticket for $221.60. Why on earth should the Medallion member on the H class ticket be higher in priority for an upgrade than the same level Medallion member on the K class ticket that Delta is charging more money for (even before you split the ticket cost between the two segments!)? Delta is now awarding MQD for each segment, why they aren't using that as the primary differentiator after Medallion level is crazy.
