With speeds it is all about how much of the bandwidth you are sharing with your neighbors. It seems that backhaul in the US is much slower and controlled than in Europe. In France when Orange first launched 4G as the iPhone 5S came out, I was getting about 175Mbps. As the weeks went by and more and more people got the iPhone 5s and the equivalent Samsung phone and it went down to about 40Mbps downloads.
Then I came to the US and found out just how slow LTE is here. And at more than triple the cost!
