I am traveling with just a backpack. So I am fine taking public transport. My hotel is close to wenceslas square. So I can get off at Hlavni station and walk to the hotel (and save some $).

I wouldn't suggest the bus if there is luggage that can't easily fit on your lap
Never seen it that crowded myself, but I've been on it when it's rather packed.

Have not ridden in Airport Express, but whenever I've seen it drive be it never looked crowded. Maybe fullish, but not packed like public bus.

But so far I've always chosen regular bus to Metro and vv. I suspect Express bus is faster, but I value the cheap bus fare

Edit to add: just looked at Cheap Transport to Airport thread and see that it's only 60 CZK. Not sure what made me think it's much more than that. In that case, the advertised 33 minutes is definitely way to go, though it only runs twice an hour.
