As for upgrades, after about 6-7 stays here, I'm inclined to say that they do upgrade diamond elites but it all depends on how occupancy rates are. If it approaches near full (as in most long weekends), there is no chance of being upgraded. If you look at the room rates, they tend to increase the rates for the weekend, possibly due to the influx of Singaporeans during the weekend. I will be staying here again in June on a weekday so I'll report back on the occupancy rates and whether I was upgraded.

In my recent stay, the hotel was not full and I was upgraded from the basic room to a one bedroom deluxe suite with lounge access. I also noticed there were one or two large groups of mainland Chinese tourists staying in the hotel. The evening drinks in the lounge was ok, nothing spectacular. Turning up 630pm, the lounge was full and they had to send me back to my room to wait for the next available table. It took about 15 minutes before they called.
