Yes, it works exactly as described in the above messages. A friend of mine is now on AA 108, LAX-LHR. He checked in at T4 and went through TSA PreCheck in T4. Then he went through the airside connector to TBIT and his departure gate 148.

Be sure to ask your ride to drop you off at T4, not TBIT.
