IMO that part of Nanjing Road has seen better days (one reason why the Sofitel has fallen from grace). The Westin and the Peace haven't really been affected though because the Bund itself seems to be increasingly popular. On the other hand, Shanghai (Puxi) is small so if you get a good rate.....
The JW Marriott looks like a good bet.
Also you might want to check out some of the hotels near the Shaanxi road subway station (Jinjiang, Okura Garden, Ruijin, etc)
