All a bit bizarre but I assume it could possibly be linked to the the changes in the interchange fees.
If it is that I can only assume Barclaycard have went to IHG with a revised package and IHG have baulked at it and Barclaycard have moved to terminate their agreement.
Or Barclaycard and IHG have had some kind of disagreement and the agreement has been terminated.
I half expected the free card to be binned following the changes to the interchange fees and the £99 one to continue with reduced earning or additional perks in lieu of the points.
If there is to be any change to existing accounts we will get the standard thirty days notice I expect.
This is the first time I have encountered this with a co-branded card in all the years I have had them so please forgive my ignorance but what happens to the accounts if Barclaycard announce that they are no longer dealing with IHG? Will the accounts revert to standard Barclaycard platinums/freedom etc or are the co-branded accounts sold to the new (assuming there is one) card issuer?
