Optimal eat/drink/sleep strategy for 10pm IAD-LHR in J
This is totally a #Firstworldproblems question, but -- hey, that's what Flyertalk is all about.
My GPU finally cleared for my 10pm IAD-LHR flight later this week, and I'm trying to optimize my utility. I'm going straight from a conference in MD to a conference in the UK, with no down time at either end. It's a 7.5-hour flight getting into London at 10:30am.
I'm thinking that my best use of available resources here is:
1. Get to IAD early, head to the LH lounge, pig out on food and booze, shower.
2. Return to C/D terminal, board UA flight, take a sleeping pill as soon as the doors close.
3. Skip the meal service, crank my seat down and conk out (earplugs and eyeshades) as soon as wheels are up. Ask not to be woken up for breakfast.
4. Hit the LHR Arrivals Lounge for breakfast, coffee, and a shower before getting on the train in London.
As a dedicated Flyertalker and travel hacker, it feels sort of wrong to not take advantage of most of the J perks (meal, drinks, hot nuts, entertainment...)! But after 3 years as a 1K, I think I've got BusinessFirst memorized. With lounge access at both ends, it seems like ditching everything else for 7 hours of sleep is the right choice.
Thoughts? Suggestions? Tweaks?
