And true to his words, within a week, I got a mail from AI FFP about my membership upgrade. I checked my SBI account and the bonus points have been credited as well.

To those who might cross the spend levels just a tad before 11th April 2016:
My understanding is, as long as your spend gets updated in the system before 11th April, technically, you are supposed to get your rewards/gifts. But SBI CC being what they are, a different representative might tell you something totally different. Be ready to argue the technicalities with them.
