Who established that? Those transactions are processed through a third party (points.com) and are not eligible for 3X. They won't even get you 2X for travel.

Update: so I've been researching and trying to figure out why you got that impression. I see another user advised you that they received 3X, but I don't see anything in terms of a general "establishing" about earning. Conventional wisdom regarding those purchases is that you should only earn 1X. Per Chase's Hyatt CC page, only purchases at Hyatt properties will earn 3X. If your transaction were to have "Hyatt" in the name, you could argue the case, but those are processed through points.com
