I'd look at GAP Adventures as they have family tour options so you can meet others and have less to worry about. There are also other family tour groups if you don't want to DIY it all - a good travel agent who has experience or connections in where you want to go can help sort things thru also - they can plan for airport transfers, private guides/tours, experiences, etc
