Ran into this on the LAX-CLT redeye earlier this week. I knew it was coming, just cookies and nuts, but still not my favorite. A 5 hour flight is a 5 hour flight. I always find myself on these non "sacred" transcons...SEA-PHL, LAX-CLT, etc. Can't AA just pretend that they touch JFK and thus are worthy of a meal??? And while I'm whining, I wouldn't mind some decent equipment either...
