There should be no cut-off whatsoever. Any flight on DFW-LAX needs to have a meal regardless of when it departs. The fact that most people might not want a meal at 10pm or on a redeye does not matter. This is especially the case when AA charges most elites for upgrades - a practice I support, but it needs to result in a superior product, which AA no longer provides.
