It is a bit surprising since EK publishes fares on much longer out-of-the-way routes (JFK-DXB-LOS, for example- a friend flew them this Christmas and they were the cheapest option in Y).
There are fares from CAI to GRU, so if you want to stick with EK, you could position yourself to CAI and then fly from there.
